what is the law in france regarding someone who is on the Sex Offenders register in Britain?

September 24th, 2009

My ex pleaded guilty to a sexual abuse offence in Nov 2008, and was put on the SOR, but he lives in France, what are the implications for him?
he has lived in France for the last 7 years and the court knew he was a french resident when he was put on the SOR – I am being told by the British police that there is no system to inform the local police ( where he lives) that he is on a suspended sentence and on a SOR

If he is breaching a court order or conditions of his probation by either going abroad or not turning up to meet with his probation officer, then he will be arrested.

Furthermore if he fails to sign the sex offenders register at his local police station, and simply disappears abroad his details will be submitted to the European Police Office (Europol) and International Police Office (Interpol), and he will be a wanted man in most countries across the world.

The UK Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre reguarly puts up pictures of Sex Offenders who have breached their conditions on the CEOP Website.

Whilst UK Crimestoppers has on-line appeals and pics of wanted UK criminals including sex offenders on it’s website, including those residing on the Spanish Costas or elsewhere in Europe.
