Is a person listed on Megan’s Law,convicted for child sexual abuse aloud to live near a playground?

October 25th, 2009

I am asking this because we recently moved, and on our block is a person convicted of child sexual abuse….I spotted him on Megan’s law one day when i was looking at the website. We live a quarter block away from a playground, and i sometimes see him down there staring in the gate, or he walks back and forth down to it. He has even been seen inside the playground swinging on the swings…he looks to be in his late 30’s. Is he aloud to do this? aloud to live near playgrounds? And should this have been told to us before buying the home? Its a bit creepy seeing him around the playground like that.
Yeah I had actually looked beforehand but he wasn’t on there or perhaps I somehow missed him, there were alot…
Hi Stuart, We live in Pennsylvania.
To David…What do you mean by…"I know it says convicted of child sexual abuse which could have been placed to make something out of nothing, not saying it did….." If it says child sexual abuse, isnt that what he did? What other acts could stipulate that type of conviction? I’m not law savvy…
I fully understand he is aloud to "walk", thats fine. I just thinks its creepy where he chooses to "walk".
To Terran….Wow I was making a spelling mistake…..do you feel better correcting it,do you feel a little bigger now, a little smarter? And I was asking a question, not asking for your sarcasim. I am starting to see that everytime a question is asked on here, there is atleast one *** that has to try and be witty, get over yourself. And No one is harrasing him. And how do you know what time he served? Do you actually know that it was enough time? Have you ever looked at the recidivism rates for child molesters? Thanks for your well thought out answer….

not really sure about if he can live there but i think as long as they severed there sentence for the crime they just have to register where they live. No ones obligated to tell you before you buy a house. but next time you move id research the area first. so like hes act a bit suspicious hanging around the play ground without watching kids of his own. if his actions seem odd or supsious you could call the law and tell them theres a know sex offender hanging around the playground and see if they could patrol the area .if he hasn’t been bothering any kids i don’t they could make him leave he has rights to. but if he has bad intention them patrolling around the area might make him think twice.
