Your numbers are inaccurate because not everyone who have been abused has come forward. Molestation by the church officials has been happening longer than 50 years – c’mon now. Where do you buy your crack? The number should be ZERO molestations. How dare you defend these cretins?

We focus on the church because it is supposed to be a safe environment. Priests are supposed to give up their sexuality for the sake of the cause. They are supposed to be non-sexual men of god. These children and their parents trusted them, and they abused that trust. They go unpunished because the church covers it up and relocates them to fresh meat in another parish.

One teacher at my school was caught having sex with a student – he was not relocated to another school – he went to jail and stripped of his credentials – the priests are free to continue to prey on the innocents.

what makes them ‘give up’? imperfection should be the only thing that would ‘test’ us. if you were nude, are you asking for rape or could it be your choice of freedom?

You only know about the ones that were made public. Besides that, the catholic church is wrong for not calling in the authorities beginning with the allegations of wrong doings from parents or kids. The catholic church trying to shuffle this whole thing under the carpet or trying to act above the law is the problem.

Pedo priests are a problem. The number is uncertain. The real culprits are the heirarchy of the church, bishops, cardinals and the pope who allowed this to go on while shuffling these bastards from parish to parish. That is what pisses me off, in case you can’t tell.

How many pedos made it out of the priest ranks and are not establishing rules for others of their ilk? How many pedo bishops, cardinals and popes are there? Have there been?

I wouldn’t let a catholic priest on the same block as my kids.

The schools do not cover up molestation, they keep the situation private, and the church instead of turning over the offenders to the authorities transferred the offender to other churches to cover it up. All molestation is bad, but when it comes from people who are supposed to have a "high moral ground" it makes it 10x worse. Then to top it off these offenders did not spend any time in jail for their crimes they were merely transferred. The teachers were not transferred to other schools, they went to jail.

sorry, but I have issue with churches shuttling pedophiles around to different communities and unleashing them onto the children without warning anyone,and protecting them from the prosecution.
schools do not have the same type of power that churches do,in this respect. also, a church is supposedly a sacred place where people learn to love one another, worship their god,blah,blah,blah,- point is ,molesting children and protecting the molester, is the height of hypocrisy and just unforgiveable. any number of victims is too high for a church- which should be held to a higher standard as it is supposedly a house of morals rather than a den of sin, and the whole cover up deals which have been documentaented and aired on public television just makes the crime even more depraved.
teachers and coaches get fired,priests get tranferred to the next town, no megan’s law apply

Yes, there are evil men in every bunch, even protestant ministers!!!! And Youth Group leaders.

But because these men claim to be Men of God- it makes the evil especially distasteful and henious. Especially evil.

Isn’t a priest supposed to be your god’s representative. Isn’t your god supposed to be good??? And don’t hide behind the "humans make mistakes" defense. Doesn’t work here.

The Supreme Court was wrong. Child molesters should be given the death penalty.

What you say is figuratively correct but people wouldn't accept it as the expectations of moral conduct from 'men of God' ie priests, are many times higher than ,say teachers or others.Take a simple act of a petty theft,committed by a layman and also a priest or a member of a clergy of any religion and nobody has to guess the public reaction.In the case of priests,it's not the the magnitude of the act but the perceived gravity of such act which gets magnified due to prevalent social norms.By the way,based on the data used by you, I am sure that a child would be safer with a priest any day than with anybody else(except,his family).

Because the Catholic Church as the largest religion has always been at the forefront of opposition. There are those who have always and will always seek to destroy all that it stands for.
They turn a blind eye to that facts that you’ve listed and choose instead to react and believe in what they read as proof that they are succeeding in their quest to downgrade and undermine the Catholic faith.
There have been stone thrower from the beginning of time and apparently there are a lot of people who live in glass houses and live without sin. They read their papers and zero in on the progress they attempt to make even though their judgement is based on little fact.
You’ve done your homework and it’s nice to see someone that actually does have an open mind to the full picture and acknowledges that the media is to blame with firing up the righteous crusades.

It doesn't matter what the RATE of molestation is!! Therer should be NONE in that category. NONE!!!!!!!!! You are treating it like an ordinary crime, which it is not!! It is forbiden by the Bible and so the man of God doing this is going against the word of God.
