Even though the pedophile priest saga is relatively recent, the abuse of children at the hands of religious people has been going on for centuries. Is the only difference between now and then that people now have the courage to stand up to religious people where before they were in fear of being excommunicated or burned at the stake or excommunicated AND burned at the stake?
