He helped some of those bishops cover up crimes. Given that he is probably burning in the fires of Hell right now under Catholic doctrine, why is the Catholic Church trying to sanctify him and make him a saint?
Wrong.
He called all of the bishops to the Vatican and raked them over the coals for letting this happen.
